Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

People are crazy about diets that help them in loosing those extra kilos. However there are some diets that really help you attain more by cleansing your system. These diets are generally called detox diets.

Detox diets have been popular since several years now. Lemonade diet is another name for Master Cleanse Detox Diet and gained popularity in 1976. Master Cleanse Detox Diet again made its comeback in 2005. You should know the following facts about this diet.

Everyone can try this easy to follow diet. During this diet you are expected to quit eating and start drinking.

Rather than relying on vegetable soups and fresh fruit juices, you will have to drink approximately four cups of salt water solution and then slowly advance by drinking 8 to 12 glasses of made at home lemonade.

Recipe for lemonade is, mixing juice of fresh lemons with water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. Each of these ingredients has a special function. Lemon dissolves accumulated fecal waste, cayenne pepper helps in eliminating mucus and maple syrup provides energy to the body.

You are also required to drink herbal tea laxative as a part of this course. Herbal tea aids in eliminating toxins through urination or fecal waste.

In general a master cleanse detox diet should be sustained for ten days. If your body allows, you can extend this program for a maximum of 20 days. Gradually decrease the intake of food, about a week before you plan to begin master cleanse. This will prepare your body for the strict dietary phase that will follow.

The common side effects of this type of detox diet are diarrhea, constipation, nausea, cramping and anal itching. At any point, if you feel uncomfortable, you can discontinue following this diet plan. Specialists advocate that this diet is not the finest means to rinse your system when other healthy alternatives are assessable.

However, weight loss is guaranteed through Master cleanse diet. The reason behind this is that your drink is short of micronutrients and calories. Therefore it is recommended for short term use only. Because for the proper functioning of the body, we need a proportionate diet including vegetables, fruits, chicken, fish and meat.

A master cleanse detox diet should be adopted after your doctor’s declares your physically fit. Moreover, you have to continue with caution if you are on medication and are suffering from some health situation.

With master cleanse you can lose weight as well as cleanse your body of the toxic and harmful chemicals and waste. Always consult a physician prior to adopting such a strict regimen to detoxify your body.

Liver Detox: Good Diet Sources

liver detox

A liver detox is in all likelihood one of the healthiest approaches to get started on a three day detox diet as it helps empower your liver for handling all those stored toxins that your system will be adding back into your bloodstream during your detox cleanse. I’ve assembled a list of some of the best liver detox foods here to help get you started.

Artichokes, particularly the hearts, has a significant amount of antioxidants known as flavonoids that protect the liver’s cells and tissues. Artichokes are also good for the production of bile, which helps the body to better digest and assimilate fats. The artichoke part of the milk thistle family, one of the leading liver rejuventators, which make available major protection system against toxins and is particularly suitable for men and women with immune system related illnesses or liver ailments connected to over-consumption of alcohol.

The next vegetable good for the liver is asparagus because it contains high quantities of vitamin A and potassium, the mineral which the liver requires for detoxing.

Beetroot is rich with betaine, which assists in protecting the liver counter to the damaging ramification of alcohol in the body. In addition, betaine dilutes the bile and helps it move freely inside the bile ducts.

Dandelion root boosts the proper functioning of the liver. It also is a good source of inulin, a fibre type of substance that serves as a probiotic – an element that helps nourish the beneficial bacteria in the gut. As if that weren’t enough, this lowly root of the dandelion is also effective for lowering the amount of sugar in our blood.

Whey is a rich source of L-cysteine (an amino acid). It’s like the vitamin C, for serving as a precursor to glutathione. Remember, the livers own two-level detox process takes up great amounts of glutathione. Hence it is critical for our health to replenish this everyday. Moreover, whey possesses methionine, glycine, taurine and glutamine; these are amino acids that are crucial to 2nd stage of the liver cleansing or detox process. We endorse Fat Flush Whey, because it is produced from milk that is is not contaminated with growth hormones.

A well-recommended supplement called nutritional yeast is a full protein that includes eighteen amino acids and fifteen minerals. Its also a prime source of the B vitamins that are critical in both stages of liver detox. Vitamin B1 helps decrease the effects of drinking alcohol, cigarette smoking and heavy metal toxicity. Vitamin B2 is utilized in the production of glutathione. Next, Vitamin B3 is used in phase 1 detoxification. Then we have vitamin B5 which is also known as pantothenic acid, which aids to detoxify acetaldehyde made from ingested alcohol and by the overproduction of Candida. This super yeast also includes vitamin B12. And because people who do not eat meat are not getting these crucial nutrients in meat, they have to make provisions that they get it from another source, and nutritional yeast is a terrific substitute.

Nutritional yeast should not to be confused with the old-time brewer’s yeast, a by-product of beer-manufacturing. Brewers yeast is very bitter and contains wild yeast strains from the production of beer. Moreover, brewers yeast tends to encourage Candida and yeast overgrowth.

Nutritional yeast is different because the yeast is primarily cultivated on strains of mineral-rich molasses or cereal by-products. The best type is grown on molasses or maple syrup, because the yeast assimilates the minerals from the molasses, maybe making it the most excellent organic food form of the important minerals digestible to people. It is also pasteurized to avoid the intake of living yeast. Thus, dissimilarly to brewer’s yeast, it will not give you gas or lead to bloating. Moreover, it won’t cause Candida or other yeast-related problems.

Detox Your Body – How to incorporate nutritional yeast in your diet: You can incorporate 1 tablespoon or you can use 2 Tbsps. of the nutritional yeast flakes in tomato sauces and stews; dust it on popcorn, or mix in a spoon filled with nutritional yeast into meat and fish sauce or thick gravy. Hence when I am feeling enervated, I take in some nutritional yeast between meals for a fast renewal of energy that is especially effective for people trying to discontinue their habit of consuming coffee or to prevent experiencing a sugar crash. Plus, the nut-like taste of the nutritional yeast in fact is appetizing when you add a one or two big spoonfuls in a full glass of water. And I can attest from experience that you will gain a raise in energy levels in the span of 10 minutes. You can also ingest some nutritional yeast right before a meal to take the edge off your craving for food.

Will Learning How To Detox The Body Enhance Your Well Being

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Ever since my teen years I’ve always been in pretty good health. I’ve hardly ever been ill, and colds and viruses never seem to latch on to me – or at least not that lasted longer than about 12 hours. So it was completely out of the blue when I began feeling constantly tired and lethargic, and I was even finding it hard to get up in the morning. I’d been to see the doctor on many occasions, and had undergone several test, but every one showed nothing wrong.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I bumped into a old friend one day who intimated that I was in need of a natural detox, and take some time to learn how to detox the body and understand the impact of toxins on my health. It seemed a lot of people had a lot of good things to say about it, so I decided to learn all about it, and try to understand why alternative health therapists say it’s so popular and advocate healthy detox diets and suggest getting started with the 7 day detox diet so avidly.

Something else she recommended I try was a foot detox. I now use a foot spa about twice a week, if you don’t want to invest in a foot spa, the detox foot pads can work just as well – but doing it this way you miss out on the relaxing foot massage at the same time

Here’s what I learnt to detox your body.

Drink water or herbal teas

Making sure you take in plenty of fluids is very important while you are following a detox diet as it will prevent the build up of toxins and man made chemicals in your body. Drinking plenty of water also has other health benefits like promoting regular bowel movements, reduce bloating, and encourage clear skin. On a normal day try to drink about 2 liters of water, although you will need more in hot weather or on days when you are exercising.

As a guideline, increase your water intake by about half a liter for each hour of exercise. Choose still mineral water, or tap water that has been filtered, or boiled and then cooled. Keep your water at room temperature as it’s more refreshing that way. Feel free to substitute herbal teas if you can’t face all that water – loose leaf tea is the better option if it’s available. Green tea, horsetail, camomile and roibosch (or redbush) in particular are great choices as their hidden ingredients naturally support the detox process. Roibosch and green tea has other health benefits too as it is very high in OPC antioxidants.

Choose Organic Food Where Possible

You do not need to switch to a totally organic diet on a detox diet, as organic produce is normally higher priced than non organic equivalents, but if you can afford to stretch to buying a few organic products it will be a great help.

Don’t panic if you can’t find organic foods in your area. Just eating plenty of fresh fruits and veg is more important, whether they are organic or not, rather than not get enough of them. Having said that, there are some very beneficial health reasons of going organic on a healthy detox diet.

Organic foods are free from artificial pesticides and sprays, so they have very little or no potentially toxic man made chemicals. Although it’s a controversial area, there is growing evidence that the ‘cocktail’ effect of man made fertilizers and pesticides are linked to some of the serious health conditions of today.

Organic foods undergo minimal processing. That means they contain no hydrogenated fats, artificial additives, preservatives or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). And you may notice that organic foods also taste better and have much deeper flavors.
